3 Ways to Commit to a Great Future

3 Ways to Commit to a Great Future

I have so many dreams and aspirations for my future. Lately I have spent time meditating and visualising how great I would like my future to be.

The truth is that; whatever we dream to achieve in the future, there is a price to be paid for it. And as the popular saying goes; “Nothing good comes easy”

If nothing “good” comes easy, it then means that the dream for a “great” future will need a lot more effort than it takes to achieve a “good” future.

Let’s look at the 3 ways you can commit to a great future:

  1. Commit to a New Way of Thinking

Henry Ford said; “if you think you can or think you can’t, you are right.”

Hence the first step is to change the thinking pattern that says; “who are my to have a great future?” to a new thinking pattern that says; “a great future is possible, irrespective of past results”.

It is only when you accept the thought that says it is possible that I can have huge success in the future that a great future becomes possible.

This style of thinking triggers the positive questions that you will ask and answer yourself to produce great results and hence a great future.

If you are unwilling to commit to a different way of thinking, it is impossible to achieve a great future. Remember the popular words of the great scientist Albert Einstein that “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them”

  1. Commit to a New Strategy

Now that you have agreed to a change in thinking pattern; it is time to commit to a new strategy.

First you must define “a great future”. What is the meaning of a great future to you? It means so many different things for different people. What is it for you? Positive impact on the world in your areas of interest? Lots of money in the bank, so you don’t worry about bills anymore? New academic achievements or promotion at work? It might even be improved health.

You can only achieve a clearly defined goal else you will become a wanderer without a destination.

When your goals are defined, it is time to create a plan on how to achieve a great future with timelines, stating clearly how you hope to achieve the great future.

What skills and knowledge would you need to acquire? What relationships will you need to build? Would you need to move to a more favourable location? The question goes on and on but these will form part of your strategy.

Don’t forget to write things down so you can assess what works and what doesn’t and then continuously improve.

  1. Commit to a New Lifestyle

This is a key commitment if a great future will be possible.

Your great future will need a great work ethic. This will mean hard work and long hours working on your plan. Naturally, somethings must give way in our lives to accommodate the time and effort required to achieve the future of your dreams.

To build the relationships that will help you on your road to a great future; you will need to end some old relationships. The relationships you maintain or end is critical to your future.

The great Jim Rohn said “you are the average of the five people you spend most time with”, so look at your relationships and ask yourself if you are happy with being the average of these people?

Finally, you must commit to healthy lifestyle. The popular old saying goes that “you are what you eat”. Your body like a car or any machinery will last longer and stay healthy if you make sure that it is getting what it needs; regular exercises and the right food.

I am sure you will agree with me that achieving great things and not staying long enough to enjoy the fruits of your labour does not make sense. Work hard, eat the right things and make time to rest.

There you have it, 3 ways you can commit to a great future; Commit to a new way of thinking, a new strategy and a new lifestyle.

To your success!
