How was year 2015?
How was year 2015?
Congratulations for making it this far into 2015 and compliments of the season!! How was your year 2015? Did you hit any targets? Or is it another year of failed attempts?
Whatever type of year it has been for you, I want to tell you that you are not on your own. Many of us are also in the same boat, so it is not just you.
To help keep me going, I have decided to do the following things, which I also invite you to:
Please find time to give thanks for the gift of life which enables us to try again, remembering that failure is not a person but an event and therefore does not define you.
It is also important to avoid the temptation of thinking that because you have tried unsuccessfully for many years, that you will never make it.
Instead, remember that it is not everybody that has the opportunity that you have today to be able to try again. Some are dead, in wars, struggling with physical and mental health while others do not have freedom to pursue their dreams.
So, as you can see, there are plenty reasons to be thankful.
Yes, I will take stock of my life this time and I invite you to do the same.
This is necessary because, it is only when you take stock that you realise exactly where you are, and then be in a better place to identify the steps you need to take to return to the right track.
Do You Have Goals?
The power of goals is undisputable. It is the secret to all great achievements.
Unfortunately, most of us are hungry for great achievements, but have no goals set whether written or unwritten.
The key question here then becomes, how do you achieve a goal that you have not set in the first place?
It is hard enough for people with goals to succeed so what chance will a person without goals have?
This cannot be over emphasised. This is my advice to you: if you have anything that is worth achieving in your lifetime, set goals for it. Write your goals down and break it down to long, medium and short-term goals.
Don’t be vague by saying “My goal is to be rich!” This doesn’t mean anything. It must be broken down to the things you want to do to become rich. That way, it is easy to take the next step, which is planning.
Create a Plan!
Based on your goals, create a plan of execution and make the start date today! Unless you want start working on your goal as part of your “new year’s resolution” which many researches have shown that they do not work beyond February.
All lasting breakthroughs start from, enough is enough! Can you make today your “enough is enough” day?
List all the activities you need to do to achieve the goals. It is in this process that you will find that you need help which is the next step here.
Now that you have created your plan, I am sure you see that you may not be able to achieve these goals on your own.
So now that you have identified the activities, seek help.
Look for mentors, hire the help of people who can execute parts of your goals efficiently and please take it seriously!
Most people you want help from will be busy people so take all your engagement with them seriously!
Finally, create a network of people who are dreamers like you and not naysayers and people who are comfortable with complaining about life and doing nothing about it.
Time to Grind!
In one of my previous articles, I talked about my research on the secret of success and my finding that there is no secret to success!
I still stand by that! You must commit to hard work – the grind!
If you will succeed, you must take advantage of the opportunities that present themselves to you today. Thomas Edison said:
“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.”
So don’t be scared to go all in and give it your best!
“Yes, it will not be easy, but if your goal is worth anything to you, then no amount of hard work will scare you”
As you execute your goals, you may find the need to change direction or tactics.
Respond to that and keep moving, remembering that the only thing that is constant is change and therefore you need to prepare for change so that you can respond and not react to change.
Repeat Until Accomplished
Make this process a habit as your success will only be possible if you make it a daily habit to take the steps to success.
So continue to do this until it becomes your way of life and you will be amazed at what your life will become.
I hope this has helped you; these are the things I will also do myself so join me and let me know in the comments box below if you are in, and exactly what you want to do. May be I might be able to help 🙂
Many blessings and have a Merry Christmas
