Stepping into Greatness with the Power of a Declaration

This week, Warriors, as we mourn the passing of the great Mohammad Ali, the greatest boxer of his time, I thought it is a good idea to write on this title; stepping into greatness with the power of a declaration.

Let me start with this very powerful quote:

“I am the greatest; I said that even before I knew I was.” – Mohammad Ali

He declared that he was the greatest even before he became the greatest!

This is another perfect confirmation of these words from the good book:

Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways. Job 22:28.

Make Your Declaration

Here is a challenge for all of us today, think deep and find what we would like to become the greatest at in the whole world, make the declaration and start working on it today.

The world is filled with so many people who make declarations which amount to nothing. The reason is simple, talk is cheap! Declarations that result in greatness are followed by the next following steps without which it will be an empty and powerless declaration.

Pursue a Worthy Cause

First you must have a worthy cause to pursue greatness in. Something that will make the world a better place and offer help to people less gifted or privileged than you.

 “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” – Mohammad Ali

Study the Greatest

The next step is to find the books and everything you can lay your hands on about the greatest people who lived in the past and present and learn endlessly from their stories. Greatness is never an accident; it is rather calculated decisions backed with strong conviction and excessive hard work.

As I often say, look for autobiographies of the people who have achieved similar thigs and learn from them. Success always leaves a trace.

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” – Mohammad Ali

The key word in the above quote is “explore”

Pursue Uncommon Excellence

“He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.” – Mohammad Ali

In whatever area you have chosen to achieve greatness; be ready to take risks. This is the only way to achieve uncommon excellence because if you follow the usual route, then you will achieve the usual outcomes.

Be ready to take the risk and dare to find new paths and be the first to walk there if need be.

Be ready for the ridicule as not many will see it the way you do. You will be disappointed and hurt in this pursuit but keep your eyes on the end result which is greatness.

Be Ready To Inspire

One thing Mohammad Ali did and continues to do today through his work and records is to inspire people; young and old that all things are possible if we believe it and are willing to try.

He did not come from the best background, was not born with a silver spoon but against all these odds he become the greatest.

This is it for this week Warriors, as we pray for the repose of the soul of Mohammad Ali, we have a new challenge this week to make a bold declaration, find a worthy cause to achieve greatness in, study the greatest, pursue uncommon excellence and be ready to inspire others. Only then can we achieve greatness and high performance in our lives, job and business.

This is what I call, sstepping into greatness with the power of a declaration.
